01What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. It allows the site to recognise your browser on later pages or later visits, remember choices you have made, and measure how the site is used. Similar technologies — such as local storage, pixels and software development kits — can serve the same purposes, and this policy applies to them as well.

Cookies set by Lorn Creditvale are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other providers whose services appear on our pages are called third-party cookies. Some cookies are essential to deliver a page you have requested; others are optional and are only used where permitted.

02Categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories. Only the first category is always active; the others depend on the choices you make.

• Strictly necessary cookies. Required for the website and secure areas to function. They support page delivery, load balancing, session continuity, sign-in state, fraud prevention and the recording of your cookie choices. These cookies cannot be switched off through our interface, because the site would not work correctly without them.
• Preference (functionality) cookies. Remember settings you have chosen, such as language, display currency, region, layout options and previously dismissed notices, so you do not have to set them again on each visit.
• Analytics (performance) cookies. Help us understand how visitors reach and move through the site — which pages are viewed, how long they take to load, and where users encounter errors. Reporting is aggregated and used to improve content, usability and stability.
• Marketing cookies. Used to measure the performance of our campaigns and to limit how often you see the same message. They may record that you arrived from a particular link or that you completed a step such as opening an account page.

03What each category does in practice

Strictly necessary cookies keep your session secure while you are signed in and prevent your requests from being mixed with those of another user. Preference cookies store simple values that describe your chosen settings. Analytics cookies generate an identifier for your browser so that repeat visits are not double-counted. Marketing cookies attribute a visit or an action to the channel that brought you here.

We do not use cookies to make automated decisions about your investments, and cookies alone are never used to verify your identity for account or payment purposes.

04How long cookies live

Cookies are either session or persistent. Session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or until you delete them.

• Session and security cookies: for the duration of your browsing session, or a short period of inactivity.
• Preference cookies: typically from several weeks up to about a year, so your settings survive between visits.
• Analytics cookies: commonly from a few months up to around two years, depending on the measurement tool.
• Marketing cookies: usually from a few days up to around a year, depending on the campaign.

Exact expiry values are set by the individual cookie and can be inspected at any time in your browser's cookie or storage settings.

05Third-party cookies

Some pages include services operated by other companies — for example analytics and measurement tools, content delivery networks, embedded media players and security services. These providers may set their own cookies and act as independent controllers of the data collected through them. Their handling of that data is governed by their own policies, which we do not control.

Where such a service is optional, it is loaded only if the corresponding cookie category is permitted. We do not sell the information collected through cookies.

06How to refuse or delete cookies

You can withdraw or change your consent for optional categories at any time, and you can control cookies directly in your browser. Most browsers let you view stored cookies, delete them individually or in bulk, block cookies from specific sites, block all third-party cookies, or clear cookies automatically each time you close the browser.

• Desktop browsers: open the settings menu, then look for a "Privacy", "Privacy and security" or "Cookies and site data" section.
• Mobile browsers: open the app settings, then the privacy or site-data section; on some systems cookie controls sit in the device settings rather than in the browser.
• Private or incognito windows: cookies set during the session are usually removed when the window is closed.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site from working — for example staying signed in, moving between secure pages, or keeping your settings between visits. Deleting cookies also removes the record of your cookie preferences, so you may be asked to choose again.

We review this policy when the technologies on the site change and update it when necessary. The version published on this page is always the current one, and material changes will be reflected here.
